Richard Wayne Penniman was born on December 5, 1932, in Macon, Georgia, as the third of twelve children to Leva Mae and Charles Penniman. His father was a church deacon, a brick mason, and the owner of the Tip Inn nightclub, which sold bootleg moonshine.

His mother attended Macon’s New Hope Baptist Church. His given name was supposed to be “Ricardo,” but a typo changed it to “Richard,” and his family dubbed him “Lil’ Richard” as a child because of his small and skinny frame.

Did Little Richard discover the Beatles?

No, Little didn’t discover the Beatles but helped in discovering it. It was Brian Epstein who discovered it. Beatles are known as local musical performers.

Epstein was born in Liverpool in 1934, the son of Eastern European Jewish immigrants Harry and Queenie Epstein, who had built a successful retail business selling furniture, appliances, and records.

Epstein, dapper and erudite, had dropped out of London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art to return to Liverpool and work at the family business, where he demonstrated a flair for fashioning visual displays and a knack for creating loyal customers, particularly in the music department.
