Did Lee Corso serve in the military?

He was once in the Navy.

Corso went on to become the quarterback’s coach at Maryland under his old FSU coach Tommy Nugent.

In 1962, Corso followed Nugent’s advice and got Darryl Hill to transfer from the Naval Academy, making him the Atlantic Coast Conference’s first African-American football player.

Corso joined the Navy as defensive backs coach in 1966.

Let’s discover some known facts about him.

He was born to Alessandro and Irma Corso who were Italian immigrants. At the age of 15, his father escaped Italy during World War I.

Alessandro, who had completed the second grade, was a lifetime labourer who lay terrazzo flooring, and Irma, who had completed the fifth grade, worked in school cafeterias and boarding schools.
