Did Fela Kuti have children?

Seven children were born to Fela before his 1997 passing. Femi, Seun, Yeni, Sola, Kunle, Shalewa, and Motunrayo are their names.

Fela’s oldest child, Omoyeni Anikulapo-Kuti, was born in London in 1961 while he was a student at Trinity College of Music. Remilekun Anikulapo-Kuti, a woman of Nigerian and African American ancestry who was born in Britain, was her mother.
Fela and Remi gave birth to Olufela Olufemi Anikulapo-Kuti in London in 1962. Following his graduation from Trinity College of Music in 1963, Fela traveled to Nigeria with Remi, Yeni, and Femi.

Sola, Fela’s second child and dancer, was born in 1963. Tragically, Sola went away at the young age of 34 just a few weeks after Fela. Kunle, the fourth child of Fela and a 1971 birth, is in charge of running the Kalakuta Museum.

Lagos is where Omosalewa Anikulapo-kuti was born in 1976. Adefunmilayo Anikulapo-kuti, her mother, was a nursing sister.

In 1983, Oluseun Anikulapo-Kuti was born in Lagos. Fela married Fehintola Anikulapo-Kuti in 1978; she was a dancer with the bands Afrika 70 and Egypt 80.

Femi’s son Omorinmade Anikulapo-Kuti is the third generation of musicians to carry on Fela’s musical tradition.
