Charles Leclerc was born to Hervé Leclerc and Pascale Leclerc in Monte Carlo, Monaco. He has two siblings; a younger brother named Arthur, and an older brother named Lorenzo.

During his upbringing, he had positive influences from his father and his godfather, the former F1 driver Jules Bianchi.
However, he lost both men. His father passed away after a long illness, just four days before Leclerc would go on to win the feature race at the 2017 Formula 2 Baku round.
Bianchi died after suffering a diffuse axonal injury during the Japanese Grand Prix.
