Charles Leclerc was born to Hervé Leclerc and Pascale Leclerc in Monte Carlo, Monaco. He has two siblings; a younger brother named Arthur, and an older brother named Lorenzo.

During his upbringing, he had positive influences from his father and his godfather, the former F1 driver Jules Bianchi.

Bianchi died after suffering a diffuse axonal injury during the Japanese Grand Prix.
