On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, Alhassan Azumah was allegedly shot outside his home in Sokabisi, a neighborhood of the Bolgatanga Upper East Region.
According to reports, the two attackers, who were riding a motorcycle, shot Mr. Azumah many times before taking off.
The institution promoted the deputy registrar to the position approximately two months ago, according to sources. The entire campus community is shocked by his demise.
The most recent event is indicative of the area’s security issues, since numerous fatalities and injuries are reported almost every week.
This event comes after a sporadic gunfire incident at Bawku, also in the Upper East Region, that resulted in one death and five injuries.
This event happened on Wednesday about 12:30 p.m. in the Zongo area, close to the Bawku Police Station, according to police sources. Musah Seidu, sixty, was identified as the dead.
Dr. Tagbor Jackson, the Presbyterian hospital’s medical officer, disclosed that Musah passed away from a gunshot wound to his severely injured chest.
Firdaus Abdulai, 17, Sumaila Munira, 38, Amidu Bugri, 40, Bukari Seidu, 50, and Kamal Sadat, 19, have all been named as injured.
The remaining three are receiving care in the Presbyterian Hospital, while Firdaus and Munira are being treated at the Vineyard Hospital. What precipitated the horrific event is unclear, though.
