The Deputy Director General in charge of Finance and Administration at the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Michael Addo, has resigned from his position with immediate effect.
According to sources close to the matter, Addo’s decision to step down was influenced by tension between himself and the newly appointed Director General, Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo.
It is alleged that Osafo-Maafo was mistreated during his time as a deputy, and his recent promotion to the top position at the Trust led Addo to tender his resignation.
This move by Addo comes shortly after the outgoing Director General, Dr. John Ofori Tenkorang, presented his handing over notes to the Board of the Trust on Friday, April 12, 2024.
President Akufo-Addo had terminated the appointment of Dr. Ofori Tenkorang on Wednesday, April 9, and appointed Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo as his replacement.
This decision also resulted in Pearl Nana Ama Darko being reassigned to the Ghana Revenue Authority, with Juliana Kpedekpo taking over as the new Deputy Director General for Operations and Benefits.
In the coming days, the President is expected to appoint a new Deputy Director General for Investment and Development to replace Kofi Osafo-Maafo, as well as another deputy for Finance and Administration to fill the void left by Michael Addo’s resignation.
