Former Celtic goalkeeper Denis Connaghan has passed away. He died at the age of 79, on January 15, 2024.

Denis Connaghan was best known as a Scottish football goalkeeper, who played for Celtic, St Mirren, Morton, and Clyde. He began his career at Celtic but was released in 1963. After a spell in junior football with Renfrew, he joined St Mirren in 1964, where he spent seven seasons and played over 100 league games
Danis Connaghan was born on January 9, 1945, in Glasgow, United Kingdom. He attended Holyrood Secondary School. He played 56 times for the club between 1971 and 1977, winning three league titles and the Scottish Cup. His son Denis Jr. also became a footballer.
Denis Connaghan also played for St Mirren, Morton, Clyde, Renfrew, Arthurlie, Yoker Athletic, and in America with Baltimore Bays.
A Celtic statement read: “The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Celtic are with Denis’ family and friends at this extremely sad time.”
