The Senate Majority PAC has released a new ad that portrays Mehmet Oz as “Hollywood’s famous doctor,” utilizing the Wizard of Oz theme to mock the GOP candidate’s collection of houses, among other things.
The $7 million Pennsylvania ad buy is part of the political action committee’s $32 million in state reserves. It’s their second commercial of the cycle.
In a reversal of prior elections, Democrats have been attacking the Republican’s Hollywood ties in an attempt to portray that he’s out of touch with Pennsylvania. The commercial, which introduces the candidate as “the great and mighty Oz,” includes a clip of him kissing his Hollywood Walk of Fame star, which was taken during a February ceremony.
The Pennsylvania battle is expected to be one of the most costly of the elections, as Democrats seek to replace retiring Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA).
Oz, who has been sponsored by Donald Trump, has made numerous gaffes, including a campaign video shot in a supermarket in which he attempted to slam President Joe Biden on inflation but instead focused on the GOP candidate’s description of a vegetable platter as crudite.
The Oz campaign has increased its assaults on Fetterman.
According to Politico, Oz has been reaching out to prominent right individuals for assistance, and Laura Ingraham and Ben Shapiro have lately spoken out against Fetterman.
