Bofoakwa Tano defender, Andrews Kwadwo Appau, is optimistic that his team will avoid relegation in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season while also aiming to clinch the FA Cup title.
Currently sitting in 17th place on the league table with 33 points, Bofoakwa Tano is in a precarious position with only four games left to play. Despite their struggles in the league, the Sunyani-based club has managed to make it to the FA Cup final for the first time in 38 years.
In an upcoming showdown against Nsoatreman FC in the Bono derby final at the University of Ghana Stadium in June, Bofoakwa Tano will be looking to make history by lifting the FA Cup trophy.
Appau, a former player for Asante Kotoko who returned to Bofoakwa Tano at the beginning of the 2023/24 season, expressed his determination to help the team secure crucial points in their remaining matches to secure their spot in the league and potentially claim the FA Cup title.
“We pray we escape relegation and win the FA Cup title. We are preparing very well to secure the necessary points to ensure our stay in the league. Truth be told, we are very determined to avoid relegation. We have four games to end the season, we want to win all points in those games to escape relegation,” he said.
Appau, who has featured in 17 matches so far this season, will be key in Bofoakwa Tano’s quest for survival as they prepare to face Medeama at the Sunyani Coronation Park in matchday 30 of the Ghana Premier League this Sunday.
