Declan Rice is an English professional footballer who plays for Premier League club West Ham United and the England national team as a defensive midfielder or center-back.
Rice was born in England and is from Kingston upon Thames. He has Irish paternal grandparents and formerly competed for Ireland at the junior and senior levels in international competitions before transferring to England in 2019.
He was seven years old when he enrolled at Chelsea’s academy in 2006. After being released at the age of 14, he enrolled in West Ham United’s academy in 2014
