Deborah Ann Roberts, an American television journalist for the ABC News division of the ABC broadcast television network, was born on September 20, 1960.

She earned a Bachelor of Journalism in 1982 from the University of Georgia’s Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Roberts received the University of Georgia’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1992 in recognition of her quick rise to fame as a writer.

She began her career at local television stations in the U.S. in the 1980s. Her book, Been There, Done That Family Wisdom for Modern Times, was published in 2016.

Roberts and Al Roker, whom she married in September 1995, live in Manhattan.

Roberts and her husband Roker have a son and a daughter. Their daughter 24-year-old Leila Roker and 22-year-old son Nicholas Albert Roker. Roberts’ stepdaughter Courtney, is a product of her husband’s first union.

Ben and Ruth helped their kids through hardships including discrimination and money problems. Ben, 83, has colon cancer, and Ruth, 80, has arthritis and dementia; however, in recent years, their health has deteriorated to the point where they now require assistance to get through their everyday lives.
