Dayana Yastremska was born to Marina and Alexander Yastremsky in Odesa, the third-largest city in Ukraine.

Her father has previously served on the Odesa City Council and was formerly a volleyball player. Her mother serves as her mental coach.

She has a sister Ivanna who is six years younger. She is also a tennis player and is a junior tennis player. She made her WTA main draw debut at the 2022 WTA Lyon Open in the doubles draw. She partnered with her sister Dayana.

At the 2019 Australian Open, her mother, Marina, suffered an unfortunate accident.

The champagne bottle she was holding, exploded in her hands, causing damage to her eye. She was immediately rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.

A team of surgical specialists quickly operated for four hours to save her eye. This was thanks to the efforts of tennis agent Stefan Gurov.
