The executive producer of “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” on ABC, Dax Tejera, passed away unexpectedly on Friday at the age of 37.
According to a memo she issued to the personnel of the company that Mediaite was able to get, ABC News President Kim Goodwin reported Tejera’s death from a heart attack on Friday night “with a heavy heart and profound sadness.”
His wife Veronica and their two young girls are left behind. In the memo, Goodwin promised to share additional details in the days ahead.
According to his LinkedIn page, Tejera joined ABC News in 2017 as a senior producer before being elevated to executive producer of Stephanopoulos’ show in February 2020.
Previously, he spent five years as a researcher, editor, and producer at NBC. He also spent four years as an executive producer on Fusion Media Network’s “America with Jorge Ramos.”
He earned a history bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth and then enrolled in Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism.
Coworkers grieved Tejera’s untimely death and paid respect to the adored newsman on social media.
