This Week with George Stephanopoulos executive producer Dax Tejera passed away abruptly from a heart attack on Friday.
He was 37.
His passing was announced by ABC News President Kim Godwin in a note to staff members, excerpts of which are reproduced here.
“It’s with a heavy heart and great sadness that we share that our friend and colleague, Dax Tejera passed away suddenly from a heart attack last night”.
In 2020, Tejera was appointed executive producer of This Week, and the program quickly became the most popular Sunday program among adults 25–54. He distinguished himself by dispatching the show’s hosts on field trips, broadening the show’s focus beyond the usual emphasis on Beltway politics.
In 2017, he started working for the network, producing remote-anchored broadcasts from all over the nation as well as coverage of the summits between then-President Donald Trump and Vladymir Putin. Tejera oversaw newsmaker interviews and reported about Covid, the 2020 presidential race, and the attack on the US Capitol on January 6.
He previously was a producer at MSNBC and produced the documentary Hate Rising with HBO.
