Scottish actor and filmmaker David Hayman was born on February 9, 1948. He performs on stage, screen, and on television. Hayman was born in the Glasgow neighbourhood of Bridgeton, Scotland. His family relocated to Glasgow’s Drumchapel district when he was six.

Hayman dropped out of school at the age of 16, and like his father, found employment as an apprentice electrician in the shipyards. He didn’t attend a formal school. Although he had no acting experience, he followed the advice of a local amateur dramatics club and applied for a position at Glasgow’s Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
