Ace Ankomah has been replaced on the GFA’s special five-person search committee for a new Black Stars head coach by Kojo Addae-Mensah, CEO of Databank.

The committee is led by GFA Vice President Mark Addo and consists of Professor Joseph Mintah, Chief Director of the Sports Ministry William Caesar Kartey, and renowned Ghanaian football player Opoku Nti, among others.

According to the GFA, the search committee will have three weeks to suggest to the Executive Council that the next coach of the Black Stars be accepted.

There has been a hunt for a new head coach ever since Chris Hughton was unexpectedly fired for not being able to get the Black Stars out of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations group stages.

The Ghana Football Association previously announced that the committee would have until February 2, 2024, to receive applications from potential candidates to fill the position.

The Ghana Football Association states that to be named the new head coach of the Black Stars, the candidate must fulfill five requirements, one of which is having fifteen years of coaching experience.
