Darnell Kirkwood studied business and earned a B.S. in business administration from Lynn.
Kirkwood, a former player on Lynn’s basketball team, told tales of his earlier visits to the College of Communication and Design when he would routinely enter the recording studio to maintain his dream of becoming a rap artist.
He became acquainted with Lynn’s production coordinator, Andy Hirst, as a result of these contacts. Kirkwood used this example to stress the value of establishing connections and making the most of all the wonderful possibilities that students might experience while attending Lynn.
Another instance of this mentality in action was when Hans Schur (’07, ’08), his roommate and teammate, assisted him in becoming a professional basketball player in Denmark. In Denmark, Kirkwood played professionally for two years before quitting the game early due to an injury.
He then ventured into acting. The Young and the Restless (1973), Bosch (2014), and Top Gun: Maverick are among the works of Darnell Kirkwood.
