Danny Ramirez (born September 17, 1992) is a well-known American actor. His most well-known roles are Wes in The Gifted, Mario Martinez in On My Block, Joaquin Torres in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Lt. Mickey “Fanboy” Garcia in Top Gun: Maverick (2022).
Ramirez was born in Chicago and grew up in Miami. He is descended from Colombian and Mexican forebears.
He attended Miami’s Coral Park Senior High School. As a youngster, he wanted to be an athlete and tried his hand at American football and soccer. He states that it took him a year after being injured to understand he needed to find a new career.
Danny Ramirez had his television debut on Showtime’s The Affair while attending New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, followed by roles on NBC’s Blindspot and the feature film, Rapid Eye Movement.
He played Wes on Fox’s The Gifted and Mario Martinez on Netflix’s hit show On My Block. He was also a guest star in Orange Is the New Black.
His first big film credits were from Sam Levinson’s Assassination Nation, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival just after graduation. Soon after, he portrayed Chip in Metro-Goldwyn-production Mayer’s of Valley Girl.
