On February 11, 1974, Michael Eugene Archer, better known by his stage name D’Angelo, was born in the United States. D’Angelo is an American record producer, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.  D’Angelo was raised in a Pentecostal household. Early on, it became clear that Archer had musical talent. When Luther, his older brother, who was then ten, saw him at home practising the piano, he was just three years old.

D’Angelo first gained popularity after working with the R&B group Black Men United on the song “U Will Know.” His first studio album, Brown Sugar (1995), received excellent marks from music critics and is credited with igniting the neo-soul genre.

The American Recording Industry Association awarded D’Angelo a platinum certification (RIAA). On the Billboard Hot 100, their third single, “Lady,” peaked at number ten.

Michael D’Angelo Archer II is the name of Angie and D’Angelo’s son, born in 1997. In 2010 D’Angelo gave birth to Morocco Prince Archer, a son, and in 1999 she gave birth to Imani Archer, a daughter.
