Danai Jekesai Gurira is a 44-year-old Zimbabwean-American actress and dramatist.
She is best recognized for her appearances as Michonne on AMC’s horror drama series The Walking Dead which aired between 2012 and 2022.

A play she co-wrote and performed in earned her an Obie, an Outer Critics Circle Award, and a Helen Hayes Award for Best Lead Actress.
Gurira’s In the Continuum celebrated World AIDS Day in Zimbabwe in December 2011. The play, which was staged at Harare’s Theatre, told the story of two women navigating the world after contracting HIV.
