In 2022, Rian Johnson’s American mystery film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery—written, directed, and produced by Johnson and Ram Bergman—was released.
In the sequel to the 2019 film Knives Out, Daniel Craig reprises his role as the brilliant detective Benoit Blanc as he takes on a new case involving a tech magnate and a few of his old friends.
Among the cast members are Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista.
Johnson had considered adopting the Benoit Blanc identity in further films before the first movie’s release. Netflix purchased the rights to two Knives Out sequels for $469 million in March 2021, despite the original distributor Lionsgate has given the go-ahead for a second installment in 2020.
The actors joined that May. Filming on the Greek island of Spetses took place in June and July 2021, and it continued in Belgrade until September.
