Dalvin James Cook, a running back with the National Football League’s Minnesota Vikings, was born on August 10, 1995.

At Florida State, where he played college football, he concluded his playing days as the school’s all-time leading rusher. The Vikings selected Cook in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Cook, a Florida native from Opa-Locka, went to Miami Central High School with former Seminole running back Devonta Freeman. Deandre Burnett, a basketball player, is his brother.

Since senior running back Devonta Freeman, who helped Central win the Class 6A state championship in 2010, Cook did not join the football team until his sophomore year, he reasoned that he had no opportunity to replace Freeman.

Coach Telly Lockette used Cook as a running back and defensive back. He shared carries with his best friend Joseph Yearby throughout his junior year. Yearby played wildcat quarterback on running downs, and Cook lined up as the running back.
