Daisy Jessica Edgar-Jones is an English actress who was born on May 24, 1998. Cold Feet (2016–2020) and War of the Worlds served as the foundation of her professional career (2019–2021).

The daughter of Philip Edgar-Jones, a former director of Sky Arts and head of entertainment at Sky, and Wendy Edgar-Jones, a Northern Irish film editor who worked on Sharpe and the 1999 drama serial adaptation of Oliver Twist, Daisy Edgar-Jones was born in the London borough of Islington.

She made her acting debut in a fifth-grade school play. Before being accepted into the National Youth Theatre, she attended The Mount School for Girls and Woodhouse College. She attended classes at the Open University.

At the age of 17, Edgar-Jones was cast as Olivia Marsden in ITV’s comedy-drama Cold Feet opposite James Nesbitt after appearing in 2016 Outnumbered Christmas Special on BBC One. In the 2018 film Silent Witness and the independent coming-of-age drama Pond Life, both directed by Bill Buckhurst, she played Jessica Thompson. She appeared in The Reluctant Fundamentalist, a play by the National Youth Theatre.

Edgar-Jones played Delia Rawson in the 2019 BBC and HBO television series Gentleman Jack.

For the first two seasons of War of the Worlds, Edgar-Jones costarred with Gabriel Byrne and Elizabeth McGovern as Emily Gresham. The Hulu and BBC Three series Normal People, an adaptation of the Sally Rooney novel, was confirmed to have cast Edgar-Jones in the lead role of Marianne alongside Paul Mescal as Connell in May 2019.

The BBC recorded and aired Edgar-Jones’ performance in the Albion revival that took place in February 2020 at the Almeida Theatre. She was listed among the most powerful women in 2020 by British Vogue.

Edgar-Jones starred in the film adaptation of Where the Crawdads Sing and Dustin Lance Black’s true crime miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven. Her first post-Normal People project, the thriller film Fresh, premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.
