Dagbon overlord donates GH₵40k towards construction of Tamale Teaching Hospital’s pediatric unit

The overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari II has donated GH₵40,000 to support the construction of the pediatric unit at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

In his statement, Yaa Naa mentioned that this donation is just the beginning of his support for the project, emphasizing the importance of a healthy population for national development.

During the presentation of the donation to the hospital management at his palace in Yendi, Yaa Naa urged the people of Dagbon to join in and support the construction efforts, highlighting the significance of unity in contributing towards a common goal.

Additionally, Yaa Naa Abubakari II tasked his chiefs to mobilize funds in their respective communities to further aid the construction of the pediatric unit.

The Director of Medical Affairs at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Prof Alhassan Abdul-Mumin, highlighted the importance of a dedicated pediatric unit at the hospital, expressing the challenges faced due to the dispersed nature of the current services provided.

Prof Abdul-Mumin also mentioned the hospital’s initiative to raise funds for the construction of the pediatric center during its 50th-anniversary celebration, aiming to create a comprehensive facility for all required services under one roof.

Furthermore, he emphasized the existing staff and specialists at the hospital ready to serve in the pediatric unit, emphasizing the need for improved infrastructure, which is currently being addressed.
