The well-known Nigerian singer Spyro, whose real name is Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, has disclosed that his father disapproved of his choice to pursue a music career.
According to him, he rebelled against his father’s attempts to discourage him from pursuing his dream of becoming a fine artist because the father had previously thwarted his ambition.
Despite having parents, Spyro turned to menial jobs like selling recharge cards to pay his bills and purchasing studio time so he could record songs, he revealed in a recent Tea with Tay podcast episode.
Meanwhile, he stated and quoted, “My parents never encouraged me to pursue a music course because I’m a preacher. I used to be a fine artist.” “He discouraged me from drawing since, for whatever reason, I was a really good artist; I then began to compose music.”
“Additionally, he sought to stop me from doing that, but I rebelled,” he exclaimed.
“I’ve always had a musical inclination, even in elementary school. I sang in the choir at church. And I was excellent. Back then, every choir director complimented my skills.” He narrated.
My father, however, was never into music. There was a conflict. However, I was aware that this was my calling from God.
I started going to the studio to record songs after finishing my secondary studies. Even though my parents were feeding me, I had to sell recharge cards back then to make ends meet.
However, I had to work hard to pay for my way of life and reserve studio time.
Exceptionally, in 2023, Spyro gained notoriety when his song ” Who is your guy” became widely popular. He had gained fewer but exceptional awards.
