Darnell Carlton (born August 20, 1974) is an American rapper and hype man better known by his stage name Crunchy Black.
From the group’s inception until 2006, Carlton was a longtime member of the Oscar-winning hip hop group Three 6 Mafia. Three 6 Mafia and Frayser Boy won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp at the 78th Academy Awards in 2006. Crunchy left Three 6 Mafia due to financial disagreements involving his desire to advance his solo career.
