Cristian Gabriel Romero (April 27, 1998) is an Argentine professional football player who plays center back for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur as well as the Argentina national team.
Romero advanced through the youth system before beginning his professional career at Belgrano in 2016. Before going to Italy in 2018, he played for Genoa. Romero was bought by Juventus the following year, then loaned back to Genoa before being given to Atalanta in 2020.
Romero was playing for Atalanta when he was chosen as the Serie A’s Best Defender for the 2020–21 season. The club exercised its option to purchase him before immediately loaning him to Tottenham with an obligation to buy.
