Ghanaian actress Martha Ankomah has taken legal action against Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, for defamation. The Accra High Court has set July 31 as the date for the hearing of the case, following a Case Management Conference overseen by Justice Forson Agyapong Baah.

Ankomah filed the suit on February 14, alleging that Lil Win made derogatory remarks about her. Specifically, she claims that Lil Win falsely accused her of looking down on Kumawood actors and refusing to collaborate with them due to perceived poor-quality storylines.

In the lawsuit, Ankomah is seeking GH¢5 million in damages for defamation, compensatory damages for harm to her reputation, aggravated damages for the malicious nature of the statements, an apology and retraction of the defamatory words, and an injunction preventing Lil Win from making further defamatory statements.

The statement of claim includes the alleged words spoken by Lil Win, where he questioned Ankomah’s status in the industry and made disparaging comments about her personal life.

Ankomah, who has been in the movie industry for over 20 years and has worked in both Ghana and Nigeria, holds ambassadorial deals with various brands. She maintains that the accusations made by Lil Win are false and damaging to her reputation.

The lawsuit highlights the importance of integrity and respect within the entertainment industry. It serves as a reminder that defamation and false accusations can have serious consequences for individuals in the public eye. The upcoming court hearing will provide an opportunity for both parties to present their case and seek justice in this matter.
