Chef Failatu-Abdul Razak of Ghana, accompanied by her helper Chef Malik Eric, set off on a 10-day cook-a-thon at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale on January 1, 2024, to surpass the 119-hour record now held by Irish chef Alan Fisher.
Amid the Northern Region’s vibrant cultural display, Failatu demonstrated her extraordinary culinary prowess by making an array of delicacies.
With a strong resolve to smash the official record, Chef Faila completed her cook-a-thon in an incredible 227 hours, 00 minutes, and 02 seconds. Her unyielding perseverance was aided by a large number of Ghanaians, celebrities, and officials, including Vice President Bawumia.
When Faila’s team announced that her cook-a-thon was coming to a close, she started crying because she was so proud of her incredible accomplishment.
While many people wait for the formal confirmation that her attempt to break the record will indeed become a Guinness World Record, her endeavor has garnered international attention and left a lasting memory.
Faila’s attempt came after another incredible one led by Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, who, to shatter the record for the longest singing marathon (sing-a-thon), sang nonstop for 126 hours and 52 minutes while also awaiting GWR’s clearance.
As for Chef Faila’s effort at a cook-a-thon, we’re all waiting for an official declaration from Guinness World Records, which should be available 12 weeks after the endeavor.
The inability of GWR’s official website to locate Chef Faila’s reference ID has alarmed Ghanaians on the internet.
Furthermore, there is no record of GWR providing her with an official confirmation to participate in the cook-a-thon attempt.
Many of her followers are concerned about this quickly spreading rumor, therefore they are waiting for an official statement from her.
