Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku has opened up about the intense competition at Fenerbahce as they gear up for the upcoming season under the management of the legendary Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho, who has had successful coaching spells with the likes of Real Madrid and Inter Milan, has brought a new level of competition to the squad with players vying for their spots in the starting lineup.
Speaking at a recent press conference, Djiku emphasized the positive impact of this healthy competition on the team’s overall performance.
“Fenerbahçe is a huge club with top-level players, so the competition within the team is very high. This competition is good for all of us as it pushes us to give our best and helps the team achieve success,” Djiku stated.
The Ghanaian international is expected to play a key role in Mourinho’s first official match in charge as Fenerbahce take on Lugano in a UEFA Champions League qualifier on Tuesday night.
Since his move from Strasbourg last summer, Djiku has been a key player for Fenerbahce, playing a crucial role in their strong league campaign which saw them narrowly miss out on the title to rivals Galatasaray.
Fans will be eagerly anticipating how Djiku and the rest of the Fenerbahce squad will fare under Mourinho’s guidance as they aim for success in the upcoming season.
