To showcase their chocolate products to the public during this year’s National Chocolate Week celebration, a number of cocoa companies and processors have gathered along the Accra Kingsway, reaching towards the front facade of the chocolate House.
As part of the Ghana Cocoa Board’s (COCOBOD) expo, cocoa processors will have a platform to display their goods and increase the amount of cocoa consumed.
Allsave Chocolate Enterprise, Prime Cocoa Products Ltd., Alpha Industries Ltd. (Top Choco), and Fairafric Ghana Ltd. are a few of the cocoa brands.
Benjamin Larweh, a Deputy Public Affairs Manager of COCOBOD, provided an explanation of the exhibition’s purpose, stating that it was to highlight the value brought to Ghanaian cocoa in honor of Chocolate Day, which was established as part of Valentine Day celebrations.
He explained that the initiative was meant to highlight the health advantages of cocoa and promote public consumption rather than permitting activities that might be harmful to their health.
“National Chocolate Day was created to coincide with Valentine’s Day in order to raise awareness of the nutritional and health benefits of cocoa and encourage public consumption,” he said.
