GFA President Kurt Okraku stresses importance of club finances for Club Licensing requirements ahead of 2024/25 season

In a recent workshop on the CAF Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP), President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, emphasized the crucial role that club finances will play in meeting the Club Licensing requirements before the start of the 2024/25 football season.

Okrau stated that although club finances have not been a major factor in meeting the Club Licensing requirements in the past, this will change for the upcoming season. He highlighted the importance of continuously improving systems, processes, and overall management of Ghanaian football.

“We have been working tirelessly since 2019 to enhance the standards and operations of our football. The licensing board has collaborated effectively with all clubs to establish the standards expected for the new season,” Okraku said.

“In the past, the financial documents submitted for licensing purposes were not given much attention. However, next season, we will prioritize these documents. Clubs who have not been diligent in meeting this requirement will need to step up their game. This is a word of caution,” he advised the clubs.

According to the GFA calendar, the 2024/2025 Premier League season is set to kick off on September 6. Clubs are urged to ensure their finances are in order to meet the Club Licensing requirements and avoid any setbacks in the upcoming season.
