On Friday, Cliff Robertson was recognized for much more than just his lifetime of work as a theater actor, television personality, and Oscar-winning actor.

Nearly 100 friends and family members paid tribute to a kind, caring, and loving family man who was also a skilled aviator and author. Many of the letters he wrote to them ended up being treasured keepsakes that they framed and displayed in prominent areas in their houses.

The dashing movie star who played John F. Kennedy in PT-109 received an Oscar nomination for Charly and was infamously wronged in a fabrication case that rocked Hollywood in 1977.

A day after turning 88, his longtime secretary of 53 years, Evelyn Christel, reported that he passed away in Stony Brook from natural causes.

Cliff Robertson’s cause of death: What happened to Cliff Robertson?

Robertson, who received an Oscar for his work in Charly in 1968, passed away on September 10 from natural causes, one day after turning 88.

He “never lost sight of his humility,” according to his stepson Christopher Lemmon, who delivered one of the four eulogies at his funeral at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in East Hampton, Long Island.

Robertson never rose to the top echelons of leading men, but from the middle of the 1950s into the next century, he was a well-liked performer. In the Spider-Man films, he later played the benevolent Uncle Ben.

Nature is Beautiful.
