According to Country & Town House, the movie was filmed in various locations in Massachusetts, including Boston, from May 3 to June 26, 2022. The filming locations also included towns such as Bedford, Beverly, Braintree, Canton, Framingham, Lynn, and Norton. Stars of the film, Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist, recently spoke about their experience filming Challengers in Boston during a virtual press conference. O’Connor shared how watching the Boston Marathon with Faist inspired him to create a motivating Spotify playlist to get into character for the film. Faist, on the other hand, talked about the close connection he formed with O’Connor during their time exploring Boston together before filming.
Challengers follows the story of Tashi Donaldson, a former tennis prodigy turned coach, played by Zendaya, who is married to a champion on a losing streak. The film explores themes of redemption and rivalry as her husband faces off against his former best friend, played by Faist.
With its first official trailer released in June 2023 and a second trailer in February 2024, Challengers has already garnered millions of views on YouTube.
