As the nation gets ready for the general election on December 7, Pastor Peter Adams, the district pastor of the Church of Pentecost Ho SSNIT FLAT, has asked members to become peace carriers in order to help raise public awareness of the significance of lasting reconciliation.
When the church celebrated its area week celebration, he was speaking in an interview with Odehyeba Owusu Job, Correspondent for Adom News.
Any disruption in the political process would effect everyone, regardless of political affiliation, thus the pastor chastised the church’s leadership to make a peace message a major component of their speech.
” urge every church member to be a bearer of the peace message, how can you worship in a disrupted nation. Look at neighboring countries such as, Liberia, Sierra Leone where they have been affected by war, they wished it never happened but it did.
“The loss of lives, the psychological scars and the trauma they went through. They failed to appreciate the peace they were enjoying and urging all my church members to be agents of peace,” he preached.
He also took the chance to urge the leaders of other churches to utilize their platforms to inform their followers about the importance of maintaining peace before, during, and after elections.
“Elections are about choice, not about war. God’s word is centered on peace. There have been several elections in the past. Since this nation has had elections in the past, pastors should take advantage of this chance to consistently discuss peace with their flock.
“It is our duty as Christians to advance the peace agenda as we carry out our civic duties, he stated.
He pointed out that although if social media has many benefits, young people still need to be guided so they may utilize it for good rather than bad.
Pastor Adams urged the young people to act as agents of peace rather than as tools to stir up unrest.
