The search for Christian Atsu is still underway on Wednesday despite earlier reports that Atsu had been rescued from the rubble of a collapsed building following a devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria earlier this week.

Atsu, who plies his trade with Hatayspor of Turkey was one of several people affected by the quake, was reported to have been rescued alive on Tuesday but the agent, Nana Sechere, in a statement on Wednesday, said he and the player’s family have been unable to confirm whether he was rescued nor his whereabouts.

The team director for Hatayspor also confirmed in a statement, Atsu hasn’t been found,

”There is no information on his whereabouts yet, we don’t know where he is,” Volkan Demirel said. “It’s not the case that he was pulled out or taken anywhere else. ”

A number of conflicting reports had surfaced following the initial news regarding Atsu, with a spokesperson for Hatayspor claiming he had been taken to the hospital injured.

We pray he will be found earlier.
