Christopher O’Dowd is an Irish actor and comedian who was born on October 9, 1979.
His role as Roy Trenneman, one of the main characters in the Channel 4 sitcom The IT Crowd, which lasted for four seasons between 2006 and 2010, garnered him widespread notoriety.
He created and starred in the Sky 1 television series Moone Boy, which aired between 2012 and 2015. He has also starred in several films, including Cuban Fury (2014), Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (2016), and The Cloverfield Paradox (2018).
Since 2017, he has appeared as Miles Daly in the Epix comedy series Get Shorty. He had a recurring role in the comedy-drama series Girls. His performance in State of the Union won him an Emmy Award. In 2022, he appeared as the character Philip in the Netflix film Slumberland.

John Fitzgerald O’Dowd is an Irish politician for Sinn Féin who was born on May 10, 1967. Since 2003, he has served as Upper Bann’s Assembly representative in Northern Ireland.
Prior to this, he served as the Stormont Executive’s Minister for Education from 2011 to 2016 and the Minister for Infrastructure from May to October 2022. In 2011, he temporarily filled the position of deputy first minister while Martin McGuinness sought the Irish presidency.
John O’Dowd has been confirmed as the ‘caretaker’ Infrastructure Minister. He will replace Nichola Mallon of the SDLP who failed to retain her seat in the election.
