Christopher O’Dowd is an Irish actor and comedian who was born on October 9, 1979.

His role as Roy Trenneman, one of the main characters in the Channel 4 comedy The IT Crowd, which ran for four seasons between 2006 and 2010, garnered him widespread attention. Additionally, he has appeared in several movies, including The Cloverfield Paradox (2016), Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (2016), Cuban Fury (2014), Bridesmaids (2011), and Gulliver’s Travels (2010). (2018).

He created and starred in the Sky 1 television series Moone Boy, which aired from 2012 to 2015 and earned him acting, writing, and directing Irish Film and Television Award nominations.

He has starred as Miles Daly in the Epix comedy series Get Shorty since 2017. He appeared in an episode of the comedy-drama series Girls. He received a Primetime Emmy Award for his performance in the British comedy TV series State of the Union.

In 2014, he made his Broadway debut in the play adaptation of Of Mice and Men, for which he received a Tony Award nomination. He was ranked 39th on The Irish Times’ list of Ireland’s greatest film actors in 2020.  In November 2022, he starred as Philip in the Netflix film Slumberland.

In 2012, O’Dowd married British writer, director, and television presenter Dawn Porter. Dawn’s surname was changed to O’Porter after their marriage.

On 1 February 2015, it was announced on Twitter that O’Porter had given birth to their son, Art O’Porter, a week earlier. Valentine, their second child, was born on July 1, 2017. The family splits their time between Los Angeles, California, Bermondsey, London, and Margate, Kent.
