Actor Chris Evans, who for almost ten years portrayed Captain America in the epic superhero films from Marvel, was named People Magazine’s “sexiest man alive” for 2022 on Monday, following Marvel co-star Paul Rudd who received the honor in 2021.
Evans, who is 41 and single, said the title felt like a weird form of humble bragging.
David Beckham, Richard Gere, Channing Tatum, Idris Elba, Adam Levine, John Legend, Dwayne Johnson, and others have also received honors in the past.
His first acting gig was in the 2000 film The New Comers, and he played the superhero Johnny Storm in the 2005 and 2007 Fantastic Four movies.
However, he became incredibly well-known in 2011 after Captain America: The First Avenger hit theaters.
Since then, he’s played the wholesome superhero in 10 Marvel films, laying down his shield after saving the universe in Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
Evans has become a highly bankable star, voicing the Buzz Lightyear character in Pixar’s Lightyear film and playing a sadistic assassin trying to kill Reynolds in Nextflix’s The Gray Man — both released this year.
