‘Choose a former experienced driver over a careless driver’s mate’ – Mahama to Ghanaians

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has asked Ghanaians to vote for him rather than the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Drawing on his background as a previous president, Mr. Mahama asserted that he is more qualified than Dr. Bawumia to lead the nation, as the latter has compared his position to that of a driver’s mate and questioned its efficacy.

Dr. Bawumia dissociated himself from the nation’s economic problems at his national address on February 7 at the UPSA Auditorium, claiming that he is only President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s colleague.

During his Friday speech to the people in the Upper West, Mr. Mahama emphasized how crucial it is that Ghanaians choose him over Dr. Bawumia.

He expressed confidence that, when December 7, 2024, rolls around, he and his running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, will be ready to lead the nation back toward recovery.

“We now have the chance to save our country from Nana Akufo-Addo and his driver’s mate’s stupidity and clumsy management. Therefore, on December 7th, the driver is leaving, and since he hasn’t been able to drive safely for the past seven years, we won’t be giving the driver’s friend the Ghanaian automobile.

“How much less the driver’s companion if even the driver was not able to drive safely? If you have a car that was driven carelessly and you are returning it to the driver, will you give it to your previous skilled driver or to the reckless driver’s friend? I’ll hand it to the driver who has experience. “I refuse to hand it over to the driver’s mate,” he said.
