A Chicago man who falsely applied for a PPE loan and had a loaded weapon in his possession received a sentence of more than five years in federal prison.
Early in 2019 while at Rogers Park, Tyjuan Lighthall, who is 25, was apprehended while in possession of a weapon that had been illegally bought and had an extended magazine.
Lighthall was a convicted felon who was prohibited from owning a gun by law. He committed COVID-19 relief fraud while out on bail in the firearms case.
He submitted an application for a loan under the Paycheck Protection Program in April 2021. Lighthall falsely claimed to be the sole proprietor of a company called “Tyjaun Lighthall” that reportedly operated under the name “Infinite 5 Creations LLC” to a lender.
Following approval of the loan application, Tyjuan Lighthall received close to $21,000 in his bank account.
He entered a guilty plea to the federal weapons allegation earlier this year and agreed to acknowledge the COVID-19 relief scam in exchange for a five-year three-month sentence.
