Social media and people around the world are mourning the loss of American beauty queen and winner of Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst.
Kryst met her untimely death on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at the age of 30. She died after jumping from a 60-story building at 350 W. 42nd Street in New York City.
Following her death, Kryst’s family released a statement, saying: “In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie. Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined.”
The statement added: “Cheslie embodied love and served others, whether through her work as an attorney fighting for social justice, as Miss USA and as a host on Extra. But most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor, and colleague – we know her impact will live on.”

Cheslie Kryst was born to African American mother named April Simpkins. Simpkins competed in pageantry and was crowned Mrs. North Carolina US when Kryst was a child.

She was born to a Polish American father who was a bodybuilder. He inspired Kryst a lot when she was growing up.
In June 2020, while wishing fathers Happy Father’s Day, Kryst disclosed how much her father, Mr Kryst, inspired her and told her endless stories about his bodybuilding days.
“Today is a special day to show appreciation to all the fathers and father figures who have made our lives special,” Kryst disclosed.
She said: My dad introduced me to athletics. He took my siblings and I to the track every weekend when we were young when we didn’t want to. And he told us endless stories of his body-building days.”
Her stepdad also inspired her.
Kryst said: “My stepdad inspired me to do pro bono work. He held the Bible for me when I was sworn in as an attorney in North Carolina. And he is a fellow South Carolina Gamecock.”
“Both of these men believed in me and have shaped who I am,” she added.
