After discussing a move to the Camp Nou with Barcelona manager Xavi, Jules Kounde reportedly turned down Chelsea.

Kounde, a 23-year-old defender, was set to sign a five-year contract with Chelsea after the two parties reached an agreement for £55 million.

However, Barcelona has attempted to sabotage the move at the eleventh hour, just as they did with Raphinha.

According to credible sources  Xavi has spoken to Kounde and convinced him to hold off on joining the Blues until Barcelona has approved a transfer.

By Xavi’s interest, Kounde is reportedly (flattered and excited,) and he now hopes that Barca will have a bid accepted by Sevilla.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Sevilla has not yet received an offer, but Barca is allegedly preparing a £46.7 million offer for the Frenchman.

That is less than Chelsea’s offer and might be turned down by Sevilla, who reportedly wanted to put an end to the transfer saga and find a Kounde replacement quickly.

Sevilla is currently waiting for Chelsea to complete the necessary paperwork to complete the transfer after reportedly not hearing from Barcelona.

According to reports, Kounde had signed a contract with Barcelona and Sevilla, and the center-back was almost certain to leave Sevilla.

Kounde has been a longtime favorite of Chelsea, who made their first attempt to sign him last summer.
