Popular figure Kwame Owusu Fordjour, widely known as Dr. UN, has recently shared his thoughts on Chef Ebenezer Smith’s cook-a-thon attempt.
Speaking on Onua FM, Dr. UN expressed that Chef Smith should have consulted him before embarking on his challenge.
Dr. UN mentioned that he was unaware of Chef Smith’s cook-a-thon until he started receiving tags on social media. He emphasized that Chef Smith could have organized his own cook-a-thon independently, without seeking a Guinness World Record accolade, to gain better recognition.
During his interview with Nana Yaa Brefo on Yen Nsempa, Dr. UN suggested that creating a personal brand for the cook-a-thon could enhance its long-term success and potentially turn it into an annual event.
When asked what advice he would have given Chef Smith, Dr. UN mentioned that he would have awarded Chef Smith a citation and ensured that a High Commissioner presented the award to enhance his credibility.
Dr. UN emphasized the importance of branding the cook-a-thon event independently, rather than relying on the Guinness World Record label. He stated that by establishing his own brand, Chef Smith could potentially expand the event and make it a recurring occurrence.
Last week, Chef Smith claimed to be the current record holder for the Longest Cooking Marathon but was later exposed for possessing a fraudulent certificate from Guinness World Records.
Dr. UN’s advice to Chef Smith serves as a reminder to aspiring record-breakers to consider building their own brand and credibility to establish long-term success in their endeavors.
