Charles D. Barnet Jr. is the son of Charles Barnet. He also has Darren Charles Barnet and Jennifer Ann Barnet, two grandkids from a previous union.

Barnet, the son of Charline (Daly) and Willard Barnet, was born in New York City.
His mother and her grandmother reared him after his parents’ divorced when he was two years old. Charles Frederick Daly, his grandfather, was a banker, merchant, and vice president of the New York Central Railroad.
Both in the New York and Chicago regions, Barnet attended boarding schools. As a youngster, he picked up the piano and saxophone. He frequently took time off from school to pursue his musical interests and seek employment.
He decided to pursue music instead of becoming a lawyer, despite his family’s wishes for him to do so.
