Charley teaches acting in a rural school system and is a professional photographer.
Charley and his students produce movies that explore current social problems facing students. The students develop the stories through screen treatment sessions and Charley writes the screenplays. The students are the featured actors. The annual project has received five national awards. He has also won state, regional and national awards as a playwright.
