During the 1980s, Charles Raymond White played professionally in American football as a running back for the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons. He passed away on January 11, 2023.
He was an All-American and Heisman Trophy winner while playing collegiate football for the University of Southern California. He was selected in the first round of the 1980 NFL Draft (27th overall) and went on to play professionally for the Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Rams of the NFL.
Los Angeles, California, is where White was born. At the CIF California State Meet, he defeated future Olympic gold medalist Andre Phillips to win the 330-yard low hurdles, earning him his high school diploma from San Fernando High School in San Fernando, California. He was a star football player in high school as well.
