Charles Graham Boyd was a four-star general of the United States Air Force.
He was a highly decorated Airforce general who served in the Vietnam war and happens to be the only former POW from that conflict to reach the four-star rank.
He was born on April 15, 1938, in Rockwell City, Iowa, the United States to his parents – H. Graham Boyd and Vernal Staton.
Boyd died on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at a hospital in Haymarket, Va. He was 83.
According to his son, Dallas Boyd, the cause of his father’s death was complications from lung cancer.
He has been married twice with two children – a daughter and a son. He married his first wife Millicent Sample Boys in 1938 and has two children – Jessica Marie, Dallas Graham Boyd but unfortunately, she died in 1994 and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
He later got married again to a former president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Jessica Tuchman Mathews.
