Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), and he claims good health.
On Saturday, January 27, 2024, during the NPP parliamentary primaries, Chairman Wontumi was observed in the Bantama Constituency. During the election, he was spotted traveling and doing interviews.
In response to inquiries from the media regarding his well-being, he declared, “I am okay.” Because of his remarks on the Asantehene, Chairman Wontumi has been in the headlines for more than a week.
The Kumasi Traditional Council invited Chairman Wontumi to the Manhyia Palace, but he did not show up. A team led by Justin Kodua Frimpong, the general secretary of the NPP, requested an extension, citing Chairman Wontumi’s illness.
The Traditional Council, however, dismissed the appeal, citing the lack of a medical report to support the request. After the extension is denied, Chairman Wontumi is scheduled to meet with the Traditional Council on Monday, January 29, 2024.
