Mr. Benard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, is the regional chairman of the NPP Ashanti!
Despite Chairman Wontumi’s scheduled appearance before Otumfour Osei Tutu, the Ashanti King, on Monday, photos of him at the hospital have appeared on social media without warning. Wontumi is pictured on a hospital bed, appearing frail.
We still don’t know exactly what is wrong with him in the interim. Mr. Chairman Wontumi has been called by the traditional elders of Ashanti Regional after it was said that he insulted Otumfour Osei Tutu.
According to reports, Wontumi claims to have more political influence than Otumfour.
His remark infuriated the chiefs of the Ashante Traditional Council. According to the article, his remark undermines the authority of Otumfour Osei Tutu, which is why he was summoned. Wontumi was supposed to appear before Otumfour on Monday for reparation, but he is suddenly not feeling well.
However, Wontumi has denied uttering any such words and has said that he can never offend Otumfuo, even though he has not obeyed the Manhyia Palace’s summons. Instead, a group of NPP officials went to the Manhyia palace and made arguments in support of him.
